Nail fungus or Onychomycosis is a common condition that usually starts as a yellow or white spot under your nails. When the nail fungal infection goes deeper into your nails, it may cause the discoloration of your toenails or fingernails and it can spread into several nails. It can develop into an athlete's foot  when the fungal infection affects the skin of your feet and areas between your toes.

There are several symptoms of a nail fungus that you can spot on easily which are thickening of your nails, whitish to yellow-brown discoloration, brittle or rugged nails, shape distortion of your nails, slightly foul-smell of your nails or feet, and a dark color building up under your nails.
